Matthew Hudak

Chief Operating Officer

Matthew J. Hudak is a nationally recognized member of the federal Senior Executive Service with more than 26 years of distinguished service in federal law enforcement, with executive focus on leadership and operations. He serves as the principal advisor to the CEO and the director of operations of our federal support portfolio.

Mr. Hudak retired as the Deputy Chief of the U.S. Border Patrol in December of 2023 and had responsibility for the day-to-day operations of an organization that included 20,000 agents, 2,000 professional staff, and a budget of more than $8.3B, directing operations across all 50 states and U.S. territories.

Chief Hudak’s leadership was pivotal in managing complex national security challenges, regional and national incidents, integrating advanced technology systems, efficiency, performance, and strategic planning, as well as building coalitions across government, industry, and international partners. He was assigned by the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to establish the Southwest Border Coordination Center to coordinate all federal support operations for the U.S. southern border during the migrant influx in 2021.

Mr. Hudak has a Bachelor of Arts with a focus in Sociology and Criminology from Central Connecticut State University and a Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership from Gonzaga University. He also earned a certificate in Leadership Studies from American University in Washington, DC and is a graduate of the DHS Senior Executive Service Candidate Development Program and the Customs and Border Protection Leadership Institute. Mr. Hudak is a recipient of the DHS Meritorious Service Medal.

Mr. Hudak and his wife Melissa have been married for over 25 years and have raised two children, Hannah and Nathan. During his career, they lived in several areas along the southwest border, as well as in Maryland and Virginia.
